Job summary

Pertemps West Bromwich are seeking an experienced Toolroom Engineer/Toolroom Operative for a manufacturing client in Oldbury. The role runs 07:30-16:00 Monday-Thursday and 07:30-12:30 Friday, paying £17.45 per hour for the right candidate.

You will manufacture and repair press and shear tooling to drawings and tolerances, carry out maintenance and fault‑finding to minimise downtime, and operate CNC and manual machines including surface grinders, milling, turning, fixturing and wire EDM.

Qualifications

Proven experience in press and shear tool manufacture, maintenance and fault-finding.
Experience using CNC and manual machinery, including surface grinding, milling, turning, fixturing, wire EDM.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and tolerances.
Strong practical engineering and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines.
Well-organised and self-motivated.
Good timekeeping and attendance.
Ability to take responsibility for individual objectives while contributing to team goals.
Good computer literacy and accurate recording of information.

Responsibilities

Manufacture and repair press and shear tooling to engineering drawings and specified tolerances.
Carry out maintenance and fault-finding to minimise production downtime.
Use CNC and manual machinery, including surface grinders, milling machines, lathes and wire EDM.
Support tooling try-outs and ensure work is completed within agreed timescales.
Operate Forklift Trucks and Overhead Cranes when required — training provided.
