Job summary

Glenair in Mansfield, UK, is seeking a full-time Toolmaker to manufacture mould tools, jigs and fixtures in a dedicated Toolmaking Department. You will work Monday to Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm, and support tooling solutions across production.

The role requires practical mechanical aptitude, GCSE Maths, and the ability to read drawings and data sheets. Proficiency with CNC programming, CMM checks, and standard toolroom machinery is essential to help maintain high quality and efficient manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture mould tools, jigs and fixtures.
• Check parts using CMM for drawing accuracy.
• Maintain injection mould tools.
• Operate manual toolroom machinery (milling, turning, grinding).
• Produce, prove and edit CNC programs.
• Understand engineering drawings and inspection reports.
• Identify improvements to tooling and processes.

A full-time permanent vacancy has arisen within our Toolmaking Department. Working: Monday to Friday 7:00am – 3:30pm.

Primary Purpose of Position

• To be responsible for the Manufacturing of Mould Tools; jigs and fixtures.

Areas of Business

• To become fully conversant with all aspects of toolmaking practices.
• To use CMM Machinery to check parts are precise, of high quality and accurate to drawing.
• To understand the works order administration system.
• To carry out maintenance on injection mould tools.
• To be able to use and interpret engineering data and documentation such as engineering drawings, technical data and inspection reports.
• Will be expected to be able to produce, prove and edit CNC programmes.
• To gain an understanding of injection moulding techniques and best practices.
• Proficient in operating manual toolroom machinery such as milling, turning and grinding machinery.
• To be proactive in finding solutions to problems and identifying areas for improving the business.
