Job summary

DK Recruitment is partnering with a world-renowned manufacturer in Plymouth to grow their Toolroom team. You will service, repair and manufacture tooling and gauing equipment for product manufacture, ensuring cost, quality and delivery objectives are met.

You will operate ProtoTrak Lathes and Milling Machines, read engineering drawings, and measure to tight tolerances. The role requires working in a clean, safe environment with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement in mind.

Qualifications

  • Apprenticeship or equivalent machining experience.
  • Related qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ) desirable.
  • Willing to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Able to work in a diverse team and build relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Operate ProtoTrak Lathes and ProtoTrak Milling Machines.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings accurately.
  • Maintain tolerances up to ±0.0001”/0.0025mm.
  • Inspect finished tools and parts with appropriate measurement tools.
  • Comply with Health and Safety regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels.
  • Assist with departmental training as required.
  • Keep work area and equipment clean and well maintained.
  • Utilise systems capturing work content and material usage.
  • Understand Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement principles.

Job description

Overview

DK Recruitment are working with a world-renowned manufacturer, based in Plymouth who are expanding their Toolroom team. You will be providing an effective and prompt service of manufacture, repair and service of tooling, gauing and equipment to be used in the manufacture of all Company products, ensuring that objectives on Cost, Quality and Delivery are achieved.

Responsibilities
  • Operate a range of machine tools including ProtoTrak Lathes and ProtoTrak Milling Machines. Experience using Surface Grinders, External Grinders, Internal Grinders, and Optical Profile Grinders would be beneficial.
  • Be proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Demonstrate excellent attention to detail working with tolerances up to ±0.0001”/0.0025mm.
  • Select and use appropriate measurement equipment to inspect finished tools and parts to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
  • To be fully aware of the Company’s Health and Safety Regulations and ensure they are followed.
  • To communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with colleagues at all levels.
  • Assist with departmental training when required.
  • Ensure that the work area, machinery, and equipment are kept in a clean, safe and fully maintained condition.
  • Use of systems capturing work content and material usage.
  • An understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement.
Candidate requirements
  • Apprenticeship trained or relevant machining experience.
  • A related qualification e.g., City and Guilds, NVQ, ONC. (Desirable but not essential.)
  • Ensure you are willing to learn and adapt to new technologies as they evolve.
  • Work well within a diverse team and build relationships with colleagues and managers.
