Job summary

Vaillant Group UK is seeking an experienced Tooling Technician to ensure smooth production by maintaining and repairing press tooling across our Belper site. You will diagnose complex tooling issues, perform preventative maintenance, and work with milling machines, lathes and grinders to support multiple component variants.

You will read engineering drawings, operate workshop machinery, and contribute to continuous improvements.

Qualifications

• Recognised technical apprenticeship or equivalent qualifications in mechanical engineering, toolmaking or related discipline.
• Proven experience in press tooling maintenance or manufacturing environments.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings accurately.
• Experience with CNC programming or advanced tooling design is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and resolve tooling breakdowns; perform preventative maintenance on press tools, fixtures and jigs across the site.
• Diagnose and resolve complex tooling issues to minimise downtime and ensure consistent production quality.
• Manufacture, repair and adjust tooling using workshop equipment (milling machines, lathes, grinders).
• Perform tooling modifications and adjustments to support different component variants and machinery.
• Collaborate with production and quality teams to ensure tooling meets engineering specifications and delivers high-quality output.
• Identify recurring issues and contribute to sustainable tooling improvements with proper documentation.
