Job summary

Tooling Machinist role in Hythe for an established precision manufacturer. You will inspect, repair and refurbish press tooling, read engineering drawings, and work with CNC machinery to keep tooling in production-ready condition.

Hands-on engineering background required; experience with milling, grinding, bench fitting, and tooling maintenance is preferred. The team values accuracy, downtime reduction and quality, with onsite parking and supportive management.

Qualifications

• Strong practical engineering background with metal components.
• Experience reading engineering drawings and precision measuring.
• Ability to inspect, repair and refurbish tooling to production standards.
• Hands-on toolroom experience in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect tooling for wear and damage and assess repair needs.
• Repair and maintain press tooling to keep production-ready.
• Machining replacement or repair components with CNC machinery.
• Perform precision grinding of tooling components.
• Bench fit and assemble tooling components to spec.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and tolereances.
• Identify tooling issues and determine appropriate repairs.
• Collaborate with production to minimise downtime and maintain a clean toolroom.
