We are looking for an experienced Toolmaker to join a busy manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the repair, maintenance, modification and improvement of tooling, ensuring all work is completed accurately, safe and to the required quality standards.
Carry out fault finding, repairs, corrections and modifications to tooling.
Diagnose tooling issues and complete effective repairs to minimise production downtime.
Manufacture, repair and modify tooling and associated components as required.
Read and interpret CAD drawings, engineering drawings and technical specifications to complete tooling work accurately.
Operate authorised Tool Room machinery and equipment safely and effectively.
Ensure all completed tooling meets the required quality standards and specifications.
Carry out preventative and reactive tooling maintenance as required.
Work closely with Production, Engineering and Quality teams to resolve tooling and manufacturing issues.
Maintain accurate documentation relating to repairs, modifications and completed work.
Maintain excellent housekeeping standards within the Tool Room.
Follow and maintain Lean Manufacturing and 5S+ standards, including standardised working methods and documentation.
Adhere to all company Health & Safety policies and safe working practices.
Participate in Continuous Improvement activities, identifying opportunities to improve tooling reliability, quality and efficiency.
Undertake additional training and development as agreed with the Tool Room Team Leader.
Previous experience working as a Toolmaker within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
Strong experience in tool repair, maintenance, modification and fault finding.
Ability to read and understand CAD and engineering drawings.
Experience using Tool Room machinery and engineering equipment.
Strong mechanical and practical engineering skills.
Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
Good understanding of engineering tolerances and quality standards.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S and Continuous Improvement would be advantageous.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively with Production, Engineering and Quality teams.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced, hands-on Toolmaker who can confidently diagnose tooling problems, carry out repairs and modifications, and work from technical drawings. You will be quality focused, safety conscious and comfortable working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
