Job summary

New Appointments Group is seeking a Timber Mill Operative to join a busy team on a temporary to permanent basis. This hands-on role suits someone who thrives in a busy environment and takes pride in accurate, high-quality work.

Ideally, you will have experience with hand tools and machinery, plus an interest in maintenance or DIY and a strong eye for detail. Previous timber or manufacturing experience would be beneficial. You must have your own transport due to location.

Qualifications

  • Experience using hand tools and working with timber or in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with machinery or machine minding is desirable.
  • Interest in maintenance and DIY is beneficial.
  • Good attention to detail and high accuracy required.
  • Reliable with a strong work ethic and good timekeeping.

Responsibilities

  • Operate mechanical wood-working machinery.
  • Feed timber into machinery and remove finished products.
  • Operate planer moulders.
  • Use hand tools such as hammers, drills, screwdrivers and nail guns.
  • Use chop saws, pull saws and push saws.
  • Read drawings and work accurately from measurements.
  • Produce timber products including fence panels.
  • Work to production deadlines.
  • Carry out manual handling and heavy lifting.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Timber Mill Operative

£13.33 per hour

We are currently recruiting for a Timber Mill Operative to join a busy and hardworking team on a temporary to permanent basis. This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who enjoys working in a busy environment, has a strong work ethic and takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work.

Ideally, you will have experience using hand tools and machinery, an interest in maintenance or DIY, and a good eye for detail. Previous experience working with timber or in a manufacturing environment would be beneficial.

Duties include:
  • Operating mechanical wood-working machinery
  • Feeding timber into machinery and removing finished products
  • Operating planer moulders
  • Using a variety of hand tools, including hammers, drills, screwdrivers and nail guns
  • Using chop saws, pull saws and push saws
  • Reading drawings and working accurately from measurements
  • Producing timber products, including fence panels
  • Working to tight deadlines and production timescales
  • Carrying out general manual handling and heavy lifting
  • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
Skills & Experience:
  • Previous experience using hand tools; experience assembling wooden structures would be beneficial
  • Machine minding or machinery experience
  • Experience working with timber or in a manufacturing environment is desirable
  • An interest in maintenance and DIY
  • Good attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Reliable with a strong work ethic
  • Good organisational skills
  • Excellent timekeeping and attendance
  • Comfortable with heavy lifting and physical work
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Due to location you must have access to your own transport.
Working Hours:

Monday -Thursday: 8:00am - 4:45pm and Friday: 8:00am - 4:15pm
