Job summary

Bright Horizons Romsey Day Nursery and Preschool is seeking a confident Third in Charge (Level 3) to support the nursery leadership team in Romsey. You will help maintain excellent standards of care and education, lead practitioners, and ensure EYFS delivery and safeguarding compliance.

The role requires Level 3 EYFS or above and senior nursery experience, with strong Ofsted awareness and outstanding communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Early Years qualification or above is essential.
• Previous senior nursery experience (Room Leader/Third in Charge or above) is essential.
• Strong knowledge of the EYFS, safeguarding and child development.
• Good understanding of Ofsted requirements and nursery compliance.
• Experience leading, motivating and supporting nursery practitioners.
• Confidence overseeing room standards, planning and children's developmental progress.
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• A proactive, hands-on approach with the confidence to support nursery management.
• A genuine passion for encouraging children's independence, confidence and learning.

Responsibilities

• Support the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager with day-to-day running of the setting.
• Lead by example, maintaining high standards of care, education and professionalism.
• Support and motivate practitioners, encouraging teamwork and professional development.
• Ensure learning experiences are delivered in line with the EYFS.
• Promote children's confidence, independence and development through engaging, child-led activities.
• Support observations, assessments and the quality of teaching across the nursery.
• Help maintain high standards of safeguarding, health and safety and Ofsted compliance.
• Build positive relationships with parents, carers and colleagues.
• Take on additional leadership responsibilities and support the nursery in the absence of senior management.

An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Third in Charge to join a beautiful, purpose-built nursery where children's confidence, independence and development are at the heart of everything.

Rated Good by Ofsted, this modern nursery offers bright, spacious learning environments, with dedicated age-specific rooms thoughtfully designed to support every stage of children's development. The setting encourages children to explore, make discoveries and build independence through engaging, child-led learning experiences.

Outside, children benefit from fantastic outdoor spaces, including a mud kitchen, sandpit and dedicated play areas, providing plenty of opportunities for messy play, creativity and outdoor adventures.

We're looking for a confident, enthusiastic Early Years professional with previous senior-level experience, who is ready to support the nursery's leadership team, inspire practitioners and help maintain excellent standards of care and education.
