Job summary

Refresh Recruitment Limited is recruiting a dedicated Third in Charge for a welcoming nursery in Wimbledon. You’ll support Room Leaders and Early Years Practitioners, helping to maintain high standards of care, learning and safeguarding while progressing into a senior role.

The role requires a full Level 3 qualification in Childcare/Early Years, EYFS knowledge, and experience in an Early Years environment. Excellent communication and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Childcare/Early Years qualification or equivalent is required.
• Experience in an Early Years or nursery environment, ideally with senior responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
• Experience observing, assessing and planning for children's learning and development.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Passion for supporting children to learn, develop and thrive.

Responsibilities

• Support Room Leaders and Practitioners in the effective management of their rooms.
• Help create a safe, engaging and nurturing environment meeting individual needs.
• Ensure EYFS requirements are met and childcare quality is maintained.
• Monitor, evaluate and improve childcare practice quality.
• Build positive relationships with children, parents, carers and colleagues.
• Support staff development and review individual development targets.
• Take on playroom and additional management responsibilities when required.
• Assist with budgets and cost control for the nursery.
• Uphold safeguarding, care and early years education standards.

Hours: 40 hours over Monday to Friday either 4 or 5 days per week

We are looking for a dedicated, compassionate and enthusiastic Third in Charge to join a welcoming nursery team in Wimbledon. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Room Leader who is looking to progress into a more senior position. You’ll play an important role in supporting the nursery management team while helping to ensure children receive exceptional care, education and opportunities to thrive.

Please note: You must hold a full and relevant Level 3 qualification in Childcare/Early Years (or equivalent) to be considered for this position.

The Role

As Third in Charge, you will support Room Leaders and Early Years Practitioners with the day-to-day running of the nursery, helping to maintain high standards of care, learning and safeguarding.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting Room Leaders and Practitioners in the effective management of their rooms.
• Helping to create a safe, engaging and nurturing environment that meets the individual needs of every child.
• Ensuring nursery practice and provision meet the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
• Monitoring, evaluating and helping to continuously improve the quality of childcare practice.
• Building positive and professional relationships with children, parents, carers and colleagues.
• Supporting and developing staff, including helping to agree and review individual development targets.
• Taking on playroom and additional management responsibilities when required.
• Supporting the nursery in maintaining agreed budgets and controlling costs.
• Promoting consistently high standards of safeguarding, care and early years education.

What We’re Looking For

To be successful, you will need:

• A full and relevant Level 3 Childcare/Early Years qualification or equivalent.
• Previous experience working within an Early Years or nursery environment, ideally with Room Leader or senior responsibilities.
• Good knowledge and understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
• Experience observing, assessing and planning for children's learning and development.
• The right to work in the UK.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• A genuine passion for supporting children to learn, develop and thrive.
