Job summary

Modine Manufacturing Company in Leeds seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to drive product design projects from concept to launch under APQP guidelines. You will support the Lead Mechanical Engineer, craft design briefs, run performance predictions and ensure manufacturability to hit cost targets.

You will coordinate with suppliers and cross-functional teams to select components and develop water, air, and refrigeration systems, delivering robust solutions on time.

Qualifications

• Degree Qualified in an Engineering discipline or relevant Science based subject.
• Experience in HVAC product design is beneficial.
• Solid understanding of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.
• Ability to work on own initiative and in a team to manage projects to completion.
• Proficient communication at all levels; adept at 3D modelling and 2D drafting.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out engineering calculations.
• Creating performance prediction programs.
• Acoustic performance calculations.
• Selecting and specifying critical components to fulfil a design brief.
• Water system design and pump selection.
• Air system design and fan selection.
• Refrigeration system design and component selection; heat exchanger optimisation.
• Interface with Electrical Design, Controls, Research and Laboratory teams.
• Creating 3D models, layout drawings and schematics.
• Structuring Bills of Material.
• Implementing component upgrades on existing standard product ranges.
• Working to deadlines and cost requirements.
