The role consists of working with the Engineering teams to develop new electrical product designs in accordance with APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) and relevant SOM guidelines, from concept through to full product launch. This includes both the development of standard product ranges and the delivery of bespoke customer solutions and special projects. You will support the Principal Electrical Engineer and Lead Mechanical Engineers where necessary and, as part of the wider engineering team, be responsible for supporting design brief creation, achieving cost targets and designing the electrical infrastructure of products with customer requirements, manufacturing, serviceability and assembly considerations in mind.
You will be required to work closely with the Controls team to bring the electrical and controls design to fruition and support changes to the current portfolio.
Supplier technology plays an important part of new designs so supplier and purchasing interaction will be required. Preferred suppliers will be used wherever possible in a manner that ensures high quality products are available using most efficient manufacturing processes.
Support the testing of products for the verification of compliance for UKCA and CE marking such as EMC and machinery electrical safety standards.
