Our clinicians are fulfilled by the idea of affecting even the smallest positive changes in our young people, so we celebrate the little things.

Get out what you put in

This role is based at Oversands School.

Oversands School is an independent specialist day school providing high-quality education, based in Grange-over-Sands. The school meets the needs of a diverse group of pupils with complex learning needs, social and emotional difficulties, and challenging behaviours.

“Here we know every pupil, their story, how we can help, and importantly, how they can succeed.” This statement is brought to life through a dedicated lower school designed with input from pupils; an upper school offering a broad range of subjects; and a vocational and post-16 provision with extensive courses led by experts.

Our clinicians are a crucial part of the most joined-up model in SEND. Across our specialist schools and children’s homes, we provide unrivalled clinical support in terms of expertise and breadth of provision. Our young people present with complex needs including developmental trauma, neuro-developmental conditions, and special educational needs.

As part of a multidisciplinary clinical team, you will support educational and residential colleagues to create therapeutic living and learning environments. Based on clinical assessment and formulation, you will offer individualised interventions and engagement, assess mental health, and recommend appropriate interventions in personalised care plans. Building rapport is key; this will enable you to deliver effective counselling and provide feedback on progress.

What we do for you

We know you’re going to do great things. For your hard work and commitment, we reward you with a competitive salary and benefits package. With us, you’ll make a genuine difference to the lives of our young people. Additionally, you will receive:

  • Training: Full induction and on-the-job training
  • Holiday: Full school holidays including bank holidays
  • Clinical Development: Leading programmes of clinical learning and professional development
  • Flexible benefits: Options to tailor benefits such as life insurance
  • Wellbeing: Wellbeing tools and employee assistance
  • Medical cover: Reimbursements for opticians, dentists, etc., plus high-street discounts
  • Beautiful working environments: State-of-the-art facilities in our schools

We also offer a referral scheme with a £1,000 bonus for each successful recommendation.

Bring your whole self to work

This is a great opportunity to change young lives and positively impact their future. Within our supportive environments, you will have access to supervision, a clinical development programme, and a team of over 220 multidisciplinary colleagues who will support you every step of the way. Here’s what we’ll need from you:

  • As a qualified professional (or accredited Counsellor), you’ll be eligible for membership of BACP or a similar body. Additional qualifications in mental health or therapeutic interventions are desirable.
  • You should be well-versed in child development and skilled at connecting with young people.
  • You are highly organised and proactive.
  • Honesty and empathy are essential, as we genuinely care about our young people and each other.

Interested in joining us?

Our young people deserve the best possible future, and we share that commitment. You deserve a purposeful career in an environment that allows you to be yourself. The Witherslack Group is dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of its young people. This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check (cost covered) and online search.
