Job summary

East London NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Security Liaison Nurse to join London-based forensic mental health services. The role focuses on therapeutic security oversight, risk management, and leading security staff within John Howard Centre and/or Wolfson House Security.

You will work within a multidisciplinary nursing team, ensuring safe, secure environments and adherence to legal frameworks such as the MHA and CPA. DBS checks and UK registration are required.

Qualifications

• First-level RMN/RNMH registration
• Minimum three years post-basic ward experience
• Up-to-date nursing knowledge in mental health care
• Understanding of therapeutic security principles
• Knowledge of MHA and CPA
• Knowledge of UKCC standards and conduct
• Good written and verbal communication
• General computer literacy and clinical skills
• Strong people-management and leadership abilities
• May require post-basic professional development
• DBS check required
• Current UK professional registration

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of therapeutic security and reception services within forensic mental health services
• Promote a safe, secure environment enabling high-quality patient care
• Manage Reception Supervisors and Security Nursing Assistants
• Lead and support therapeutic security procedures and patient care standards
• Oversee monitoring and maintenance of physical security systems
• Ensure mandatory security checks are completed and maintained
• Ensure staff can operate security systems and manage access to secure facilities
• Work at John Howard Centre and/or Wolfson House Security
• Participate in risk assessments for high-risk patients
• Collaborate with Security Liaison Nurses and wider nursing team to safeguard people
