Job summary

Oxford Health NHS Trust is seeking a health and safety professional to join the Health, Safety and Security department at sites in Oxford and Aylesbury. Experience from health, police, prison or armed forces welcomed; training provided for mental health ward environments.

The role focuses on safety within forensic wards, two low secure units and a pre-discharge unit, collaborating across staff levels; a DBS check is required during onboarding to ensure suitability for this sensitive environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to work autonomously and manage responsibilities.
• Strong personal and organisational skills with good planning ability.
• COSHH and Nebosh or equivalent health & safety training.
• Knowledge of safety and security systems and risk assessment.
• Experience in mental health settings is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety within assigned wards using See, Think, Act framework.
• Contribute to security awareness training for clinical staff.
• Liaise with staff at all levels and provide high-quality service.
• Support the forensic service across two low secure wards and a pre-discharge unit.
