Job summary

Derbyshire County Council is seeking a Residential Childrens Worker to join Hillview Children’s Home in Chinley. The role focuses on supporting children aged 8–18 in a therapeutically informed residential setting, delivering daily care, education, and social activities.

You will be part of a small team, working shifts including sleep-ins, with opportunities to develop through the Level 3 Diploma or equivalent qualification within two years. Compliance with relevant regulations is essential.

Qualifications

• Must hold, be working towards, or be willing to undertake the Level 3 Diploma and Social Care Pathway within 2 years of starting.
• Or hold an equivalent qualification such as NVQ 3 in caring for children & young people and be prepared to complete any additional work to meet the required level.
• Must have an openness to relationship-focused and psychologically informed working practices.
• Must comply with the Children Act, Quality Care Standards and Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily support, guidance, and educational and social activities for children.
• Work as part of a small staff team to deliver a person-centred service.
• Adhere to policy requirements and maintain appropriate documentation and safeguarding.
• Demonstrate initiative in a residential care setting and promote 24hr care through shift patterns.
