Northwood is seeking a Recreation Programmer to join our Halifax Team, delivering recreation therapy to residents in a long-term care setting. You will plan, implement, and evaluate programs that enhance residents' quality of life.

The ideal candidate holds a Therapeutic Recreation credential, with at least one year of experience, excellent communication, and strong organizational skills. Northwood supports ongoing professional growth and an inclusive workplace, with shifts totaling 80 hours

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in Therapeutic Recreation.
• Min. 1 year recreation therapy experience in long-term care.
• Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate programs.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Strong organizational abilities.
• Reliable attendance according to Northwood standards.

Responsabilités

• Facilitates and participates in recreation therapy programs aligned to residents' needs.
• Plans, implements, and evaluates recreational and leisure activities.
• Trains and supervises volunteers; builds professional relationships.
• Develops relationships with residents, families, staff, and community partners.
• Works within the Recreation Therapy service model and program plan objectives.
• Participates in the care planning process.
• Performs daily administrative tasks (emails, meetings, attendance tracking).
• Manages student learning across levels (school, college, university).
• Assesses and manages assigned resident caseload.
• Oversees daily operations of recreational facilities and calendars.
