Job summary

Northwood is seeking Registered Nurses to join our long term care team in Bedford. The role covers resident care, medication administration, and collaborative work within an interdisciplinary team.

The position requires LPN training with pharmacological knowledge, CPR, and leadership or charge experience. We value reliable attendance and strong communication skills in a patient-centered care setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Licensed Practical Nurses with pharmacological training.
• Licensed Practical Nurse registered in the Province where practice is required.
• Current basic CPR.
• Recent clinical experience including medication administration and leadership duties.
• Demonstrated ability to attend work regularly.
• Team-based person-centered care experience is an asset.
• Leadership/Charge experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Resident checks and rounds including vitals and safety rounds.
• Medication administration and processing Doctor’s orders.
• Resident personal care including feeding, dressing, wound care, and blood work.
• Resident, family, and staff support with questions and concerns.
• General duties: administration, ordering supplies, and task assignment.
• Complete other tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Resident checks and rounds (including, but not limited to vitals, breathing, incontinent round, safety rounds, narcotic, charting)
• Medication administration (includes processing Doctor’s orders)
• Resident personal care (includes feeding/assistance, bowel care, dressing, wound care, blood work)
• Resident, family, and staff support (includes addressing questions and concerns, assisting other Northwood workers)
• General duties and administration (includes mail, paper work, ordering supplies, assigning duties)
• Completes other tasks and duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Licensed Practical Nurses with pharmacological training
• Licensed Practical Nurse registered in the Province of Nova Scotia
• Current basic CPR
• Recent clinical experience, including medication administration and leadership duties
• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis
• Previous experience in gerontological nursing an asset
• Leadership /Charge experience preferred
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Good problem solving and decision-making skills
• Demonstrated use of proper body mechanics and ability to perform heavy lifting
• Knowledge of / experience with a team based person-centered care approach
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of the interdisciplinary team
