Job summary

Inspire Tutoring is seeking a calm, patient, and engaging therapeutic tutor to support a seven-year-old Year 3 learner with anxiety and attendance challenges. Sessions are 15 hours weekly, delivered in community settings or a one-to-one environment, focusing on low-demand, interest-led learning and emotional safety.

The role requires trauma-informed practice, strong reading, writing and maths ability, and a flexible, patient approach.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching or tutoring primary learners with SEND and anxiety.
• Trauma-informed, therapeutic and relationship-based practice understanding.
• Ability to manage behaviours that may present risk to learner and others.
• Engaging English and mathematics teaching at a differentiated level.
• Patient, flexible and non-confrontational approach.
• Strong communication, recording and professional-boundary skills.
• Hold an enhanced DBS via Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Able to travel reliably to a rural location near Ely.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver 15 hours of personalised tuition across weekday mornings.
• Use learner interests to create therapeutic, low-demand learning opportunities.
• Support progress in core primary subjects while prioritising emotional safety.
• Recognise early signs of anxiety and respond with de-escalation strategies.
• Complete session records and provide concise progress updates.
• Work with family, education setting, local authority and other professionals.
• Contribute to a gradual reintegration plan when ready.
• Follow safeguarding, risk assessment and lone-working procedures.
