Job summary

KIMS Hospital is seeking a Theatre Support Worker to help prepare operating theatres and recovery areas, escort patients, and maintain accurate records. The role contributes to patient recovery and experience in a fast-paced environment.

Working 4 days per week (Mon–Sat, 07:30–18:00) with one Saturday per month offers a good work‑life balance and opportunities to grow within a respected healthcare team.

Qualifications

  • Experience in Operating Theatres or Decontamination Units.
  • Good level of English and Maths (GCSE 4+).
  • NVQ Level 2 Health and Social Care or Care Certificate preferred.
  • Previous Theatre Support Worker experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and clean theatre and recovery areas before and after surgeries, following schedules.
  • Stock and maintain stock levels in cupboards and containers.
  • Escort and assist patients, including transfers from trolleys to tables under supervision.
  • Support safe patient positioning on the operating table.
  • Act as the circulating person for the scrub team within your scope.

As a Theatre Support Worker, you’ll play an essential role in preparing operating theatres, ensuring the theatre and recovery areas are maintained to the highest standards, escorting and assisting patients, and ensuring accurate record-keeping. Every day, you’ll have the opportunity to improve the patient experience and contribute to their recovery.


You’ll work 4 days per week (Monday to Saturday, 07:30 – 18:00), with 1 Saturday per month, offering a great work-life balance.

What You’ll Be Doing:


  • Preparing and cleaning theatre and recovery areas before and after surgeries, ensuring adherence to cleaning schedules.

  • Stocking and maintaining stock levels in cupboards and containers.

  • Assisting with patient collection and escorting, as well as helping transfer patients from trolleys to tables under supervision.

  • Supporting the safe positioning of patients on the operating table.

  • Acting as the circulating person for the scrub team, within your scope of responsibilities.


Who We’re Looking For:

A good standard of general education including English and Maths GCSE grade 4 and above (or equivalent).


Previous experience working in Operating Theatres or a Decontamination Unit.


Strong communication and interpersonal skills.


NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care or Care Certificate.


Experience as a Theatre Support Worker.
