Job summary

University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is recruiting for a Theatre Support Assistant to join our operating theatres across LRI, GH and LGH. The role starts in Band 2 with a 6-month education and development programme, progressing to Band 3 on competency completion.

You will receive full training, mentorship, and a structured care certificate pathway, with a 24/7 shift rotation and opportunities to develop further within the theatre teams.

Qualifications

• Working on own initiative and as part of a team to provide patient-centred care.
• Taking and recording vital signs.

Responsibilities

• Support registered Theatre Practitioners within the peri-operative environment.
• Assist with patient care and safe handling before/after surgery.
• Input data into electronic care plans and recording implant details.
• Carry out surgical swab counts with the scrub nurse.
• Undertake clinical observations as delegated by registered practitioners.
