Job summary

Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 3 Theatre Support Worker to assist in busy Operating Theatres across the Aintree site. The role covers peri-operative care, theatre setup, and adherence to safety standards, with a focus on teamwork and patient dignity.

The position offers both full‑time and part‑time options, with the NHS pay framework guiding salary and progression within a large regional trust committed to high quality patient care.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 required or equivalent.
• Demonstrable experience working in a theatre setting.
• Able to work under supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Enable theatre procedures and theatre lists to run efficiently by supporting the registered practitioner.
• Set up the theatre each morning in line with Trust policies.
• Assist the scrub practitioner with equipment setup (diathermy, suction, endoscopic stacks).
• Act as secondary checker when counting swabs, needles, instruments and sterile fluids.
• Circulate to maintain sterility and ensure necessary instrumentation and sundries are available.
• Maintain a sterile field and know how to respond if compromised.
• Support peri-operative care and nurse-specific procedures as required.
