The busiest times are just before shows and during intervals, where you'll assist audiences and ensure they have a fantastic time. During quieter periods, you'll help with restocking, tidying up, and exploring new ways to boost sales. There are plenty of training and learning opportunities, making this a dynamic role full of variety and exciting challenges.
Job Description
- Provide excellent and friendly customer service in a busy theatre setting, ensuring customers have a positive experience. Work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a warm and welcoming demeanor.
- Work in all Front of House areas, including bars, restaurants, merchandise, ice cream sales, functions, hospitality, ticket checks, basic box office duties, and general stewarding.
Primary Objectives
- Maintain a comfortable and welcoming environment for all customers.
- Deliver excellent customer service to all venue users.
- Assist with the smooth running of performances and functions.
- Ensure a safe and clean environment for visitors.
- Proactively sell and prepare products as required.
Shifts
- Serve drinks, sell programmes, merchandise, and ice creams, and reconcile income while ensuring stock and cash security.
- Assist in the Box Office with ticket collection and printing.
- Serve meals and snacks, and prepare food (where applicable).
- Handle payments using EPOS systems or cash, adhering to licensing policies.
- Upsell products and be knowledgeable about venue facilities and performances.
- Restock sales points during performances.
- Maintain safety and cleanliness standards, including emergency procedures and general stewarding for events.
- Perform ushering duties, including welcoming visitors, ticket checking, seating, and monitoring audiences.
- Assist with emergency evacuations and other safety procedures.
- Perform cleaning duties and ensure all areas are tidy and compliant with health and safety policies.
- Undertake any other duties as required by management.
The Candidate
Experience
- Retail and customer service experience.
- Bar experience is a strong advantage.
- Food preparation experience (if applicable).
Personal Qualities
- Positive attitude towards customer service.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Friendly, approachable, and considerate temperament.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
Shift Information
- Shifts vary based on events, typically starting between 12:30 PM and 7:00 PM, lasting around 3.5 to 4.5 hours.
- Evening shifts usually end between 9:30 PM and 11:00 PM.
- Flexibility for travel needs can be discussed.
- Schedules may change based on theatre programming and events.
