Job summary

The Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 5 Theatre Practitioner Scrub Nurse for the Day Surgery Unit at WBCH Thatcham. The post involves scrubbing and circulating across a range of specialties in a busy unit, with a strong emphasis on patient safety and teamwork.

Applicants must be HCPC registered ODP or NMC registered nurses with scrub experience and be able to work Monday–Friday in a 37.5 hour week, with in-house development and preceptorship opportunities available.

Qualifications

• HCPC registered ODP or NMC registered nurse with scrub experience.
• Band 5 level – Theatre Practitioner Scrub Nurse.
• Ability to scrub and circulate across multiple specialties.

Responsibilities

• Scrub and circulate for Maxillo Facial, Plastics, General Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics and Vascular.
• Rotate through recovery and Endoscopy areas as needed.
• Maintain high standards of practice with effective communication under pressure.

Band 5 Theatre Practitioner / Scrub Nurse - Day Surgery Unit (WBCH Thatcham)

This post is based at West Berkshire Community Hospital (WBCH), London Road, Benham Hill, Thatcham, RG18 3AS.

This is a full-time post for 37.5 hours per week; worked over Monday–Friday.

PLEASE NOTE: Sponsorship is not normally available for this vacancy - applicants must have the right-to-work in the UK for this role by their proposed start date.

We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 Theatre Practitioner Scrub Nurse to work within our dynamic Theatre team at the West Berkshire Community Hospital, Day Surgery Unit (Theatres and Endoscopy).

The Unit is open 8am – 6pm.

Applicants must be an HCPC registered ODP or a NMC registered nurse with scrub experience.

The role involves scrubbing and circulating for a variety of specialist areas including Maxillo Facial, Plastics, General Surgery, ENT, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics and Vascular. There will also be the opportunity to work in other areas such as recovery and our Endoscopy area.

Successful candidates will demonstrate high standards of practice with excellent communication, clinical and decision making skills. You must be able to work under the pressure of a busy high throughput unit.
