Job summary

Circle Health Group’s The London Independent Hospital in Stepney Green is seeking a Theatre Practitioner to join the theatre team on a bank (as needed) basis. You will scrub, assist the surgical team, and support anaesthetics with equipment and patient care.

This role is ideal for an RN (NMC) or HCPC-registered professional with theatre experience who can adapt to variable shifts, maintain sterile technique, and contribute to safe, efficient surgical lists.

Qualifications

• Experience in a theatre environment (scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery) is required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
• Ability to remain calm and accurate under pressure in a busy theatre.
• A strong commitment to patient safety and infection prevention.

Responsibilities

• Prepare instruments and maintain sterility; anticipate surgeon needs and ensure equipment safety.
• Support anaesthetist with preparation, monitoring, airway management and patient positioning.
• Provide post-operative care, monitor vitals, manage pain and nausea, and assist with discharge readiness.
• Adhere to infection prevention policies at all times.
• Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and patient needs.
• Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, efficient surgical lists.
