Job summary

Circle Reading Hospital is seeking a Theatre Practitioner to join the theatre team on a full-time, 37.5-hour contract. The role involves assisting the surgical team, maintaining sterile practice, and supporting anaesthetic care across procedures.

The position offers a permanent, full-time schedule with a competitive salary up to £42,500 per year, depending on experience, training and qualifications. Applicants should be registered with the NMC or HCPC and have theatre experience in scrub,

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or ODP (HCPC) required.
• Experience or training in a theatre environment focusing on scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery.
• Understanding of infection control, manual handling, and patient safety principles.
• Ability to work under pressure and respond quickly to changes in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to safe surgical practice.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility, and ensuring equipment safety.
• Support the anaesthetist with equipment prep, patient monitoring, airway management and positioning.
• Provide post-operative care, monitor vital signs, manage pain and nausea, and ensure patient readiness for discharge.
• Adhere to infection prevention and control policies at all times.
• Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and patient requirements.
• Check surgical and anaesthetic equipment prior to use and report faults.
