Job summary

Circle Health Group's Kings Park Hospital in Stirling is seeking a Theatre Practitioner to join the Theatre team. This permanent 30-hour per week role offers a salary up to £40,425 per year FTE, dependent on experience, training and qualifications.

The successful candidate will provide scrub and perioperative support, assist the surgical team, maintain sterility, ensure instrument readiness and support the anaesthetist and patient safety throughout the theatre journey.

Qualifications

• Experience or training in a theatre environment specialising in scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery.
• Understanding of infection prevention and control, manual handling and patient safety principles.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to a dynamic surgical setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility and equipment safety.
• Support anaesthetist with equipment prep, patient monitoring, airway management and positioning.
• Provide post-operative care, monitor vitals and discharge readiness.
• Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and patient needs.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe surgical lists.

Salary: Up to £40,425.00 FTE per year (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)

We have an opportunity for a Theatre Practitioner to join their team of staff in the Theatre department.

This is a part - time role for 30 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

Duties of this role include:

• Assist the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility, anticipating surgeon needs, and ensuring equipment safety; support the Anaesthetist in equipment preparation, patient monitoring, airway management, and positioning; and provide post-operative care, monitoring vital signs, managing pain and nausea, and ensuring patient readiness for discharge.
• Adhere to infection prevention and control policies and procedures at all times.
• Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and specific patient requirements.
• Check all surgical and anaesthetic equipment prior to use and report faults immediately.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve safe and efficient surgical lists
• Support and contribute to a positive, respectful, and efficient theatre environment.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
• Experience or training in a theatre environment specialising in scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery.
• Understanding of infection control, manual handling, and patient safety principles.
• Ability to work under pressure, problem-solve, and respond quickly to changes in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to safe surgical practice.
• Must have major orthopaedic scrub experience.
