Job summary

Theatre Practitioner - Scrub at Kings Park Hospital, Stirling, 30 hours per week on a permanent contract within Circle Health Group. The role involves assisting the surgical team, preparing instruments, maintaining sterility and supporting anaesthesia and recovery teams.

A flexible shift pattern is required for this part-time position. Applicants should be registered with the NMC or HCPC, have theatre scrub experience, and understand infection control and patient safety.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (NMC) or ODP (HCPC) qualification.
  • Experience or training in a theatre environment, specialising in scrub, anaesthetics or recovery.
  • Understanding of infection control, manual handling and patient safety.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility and equipment safety.
  • Support the anaesthetist with equipment prep, patient monitoring and positioning.
  • Provide post-operative care and monitor vital signs post-surgery.
  • Adhere to infection prevention policies at all times.
  • Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and patient needs.
  • Check equipment and report faults before use.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team for safe surgical lists.
  • Support a positive, respectful theatre environment.

Theatre Practitioner - Scrub

30 Hours & Permanent

Salary: Up to £40,425.00 FTE per year (depending on level of experience, training and qualification)

Kings Park Hospital in Stirling is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country.

We have an opportunity for a Theatre Practitioner to join their team of staff in the Theatre department.

This is a part - time role for 30 hours a week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

Duties of this role include:
  • Assist the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility, anticipating surgeon needs, and ensuring equipment safety.
  • Support the Anaesthetist in equipment preparation, patient monitoring, airway management, and positioning.
  • Provide post-operative care, monitoring vital signs, managing pain and nausea, and ensuring patient readiness for discharge.
  • Adhere to infection prevention and control policies and procedures at all times.
  • Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and specific patient requirements.
  • Check all surgical and anaesthetic equipment prior to use and report faults immediately.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve safe and efficient surgical lists.
  • Support and contribute to a positive, respectful, and efficient theatre environment.
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
  • Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
  • Experience or training in a theatre environment specialising in scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery.
  • Understanding of infection control, manual handling, and patient safety principles.
  • Ability to work under pressure, problem-solve, and respond quickly to changes in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to safe surgical practice.
  • Must have major orthopaedic scrub experience.
