Job summary
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking a Band 5 Theatre Perioperative Practitioner (RN/ODP) to join the Main Theatre Unit at the Royal Alexandra Hospital. The unit operates 9 theatres with a 12-bedded recovery area, delivering perioperative care across general, colorectal, gynaecology, ENT, urology, breast, orthopaedics and trauma. Permanent 33 hours per week, Mon-Sun (Early, Late, Nights).
Qualifications
Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC) with current professional registration.
Enthusiastic and motivated with an interest in perioperative practice.
Structured mentorship and support programme available.
Opportunity to undertake Safe Scrub training.
Access to in-house perioperative training programme.
Commitment to ongoing professional development and appraisal processes.
Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality, person-centred perioperative care as part of the multidisciplinary team.
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate care throughout the surgical journey.
Maintain accurate patient records and communicate effectively with patients, relatives and staff.
Support learners and participate in service development, audits and research.
Promote a positive learning environment and lead teams when required.
