Job summary

Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in Hexham General Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner to join the Orthopaedic and Anaesthetic teams within the elective theatre department. You will deliver high quality patient care, work closely with the MDT, and ensure equipment is maintained for safe procedures.

A supportive training package is available for newly qualified staff, and secondment guidelines apply where relevant.

• Previous theatre experience would be an advantage; comprehensive training is provided for newly qualified staff or those new to theatre.

Job description

We are looking for Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner to join our Orthopaedic Team and Anaesthetic Team within the elective theatre department at Hexham General Hospital., Please note: for Secondment roles before an application is submitted, please ensure you have received the appropriate approval from your current manager and have completed documentation required beforehand (see secondment policy) , as this may delay the process if an offer was to be made.,

• Delivering excellent standards of care and providing patient support, advocating on behalf of the dependent patient.
• Undertaking the role of the orthopaedic scrub or Anaesthetic practitioner, ensuring safe practice is maintained and patients have a positive and safe procedure and delivering high quality care.
• Working with, and supporting other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
• Ensuring all equipment is maintained and in working condition.
• Supervising junior colleagues, unregistered staff and students within your role and working alongside other wards and departments and other members of the MDT
  Previous theatre experience would be an advantage, however a comprehensive training package is in place for newly qualified staff, or those new to the theatre environment.
