Job summary

The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated Theatre Decontamination Assistant to support the safe and timely provision of sterile instruments for surgical procedures, in close collaboration with theatre staff and our decontamination provider.

You will prioritise workload, maintain accurate records, check instrument trays, coordinate movement of dirty and clean trays, and help ensure instrument traceability and smooth operating lists to support high-quality patient

Responsibilities

• Support safe and timely provision of sterile instruments for theatre lists.
• Check instrument trays and documentation for damage, missing items or incomplete records.
• Coordinate movement of dirty and clean instrument trays to and from the decontamination provider.
• Support management of instrument repairs, loan equipment and associated documentation.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure instrument traceability is maintained.
• Liaise with theatre staff and the decontamination provider regarding routine instrument requirements and any issues.
• Support urgent and priority requests for instruments, responding to changing theatre demands.
• Maintain clean, tidy and organised sterile instrument storage areas and undertake routine audits.
