Job summary

Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital is seeking a Sterile Services Operational Manager to oversee the organisation-wide decontamination of surgical instruments, endoscopes and medical devices. The role will be based on-site at HA7 4LP and involves day-to-day management of the Theatre Sterile Services Unit.

The post is a temporary 3–6 month contract with potential extension or permanency for the right candidate; the rate is negotiable depending on experience.

I am currently representing Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3-6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience

We are looking for a Sterile Services Operational Manager this role will be based at: HA7 4LP

Responsibilities

• Lead the organisation-wide decontamination of surgical instruments, endoscopes and medical devices.
• Take responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Theatre Sterile Services Unit (TSSU).
• Act as the Trust's Decontamination Lead.
• Manage the cost-effective purchase, decontamination and management of surgical instruments, endoscopes and clinical medical devices.
• Provide professional advice, leadership and guidance on strategic decontamination issues across the Trust.
• Act as an expert resource for staff on decontamination matters.
• Prepare business cases, reports, Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and funding bids.
• Participate in management meetings, reviews and relevant Trust committees.
• Contribute to the Infection Control Committee, Medical Device Procurement and Executive Decontamination Committee.
• Lead the development and implementation of an effective decontamination management framework.
• Ensure decontamination services support the strategic direction and objectives of the Trust.
• Provide expert advice to the Executive Team, Trust Board and Divisional Leadership Teams on decontamination issues.

Requirements

• Extensive management experience within Sterile Services, a Theatre complex or comparable environment.
• Experience of leading and developing teams.
• Experience of change management.
• Membership of the Institute of Decontamination Sciences or willingness to undertake membership.
