Job summary

Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Liverpool is seeking an Instrument & Equipment Co-ordinator to provide day-to-day coordination of surgical instruments within theatre areas, supporting efficient operating lists.

The role includes decontamination duties, liaison with Sterile Services, and record-keeping, with a part-time 22.5-hour schedule and NHS Afc Band 3 salary in the £25k–£27k pro rata range.

Qualifications

• Experience in manual handling regulations, PPE, COSHH and risk assessments.
• Knowledge of medical device regulations (MDA/MHRA) and Department of Health CJD requirements.
• Experience with instrument assets management and audits.
• Ability to work within a strict governance framework and NHS policies.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate surgical instruments to and from Sterile Services and record tasks in the system.
• Ensure medical equipment is available for start of theatre lists in collaboration with Medical Engineering.
• Lead decontamination and reprocessing of reusable devices.
• Be main point of contact between theatre stores, staff and Sterile Services for instrument requests and deliveries.
