We are looking for two freelance tutors to support the planning, design and delivery of our Music Collective programme for young creatives.
About the role:
The Music Collective is a community of approximately 12 talented artists and musicians who come together for an eight-month programme of songwriting, performance and recording. The programme is designed to elevate participants' creative practice and support them to produce exceptional, original music in collaboration with other artists.
Working as part of the Music Collective team, the tutors will support participants throughout the programme, facilitating creative sessions and helping young musicians to develop original work through songwriting, production, collaboration, recording and live performance.
The tutors will create an inclusive and supportive environment where young creatives can experiment, collaborate and develop their artistic practice, while working towards the programme's agreed creative goals and public outcomes.
The role will involve delivering approximately 28 weekly Tuesday evening sessions during term time, alongside programme planning, preparation and evaluation. Tutors will work closely with the Roundhouse team and other professional artists involved in the programme.
About you:
We are looking for experienced music practitioners with strong experience in songwriting and music production, and a track record of designing and delivering projects for young creatives within the music sector.
You will have experience working with a multitude of instrumentalists and musicians, supporting young creatives to develop original work for public showcase or performance. You will be confident facilitating collaborative music-making and creating an inclusive, supportive and creatively ambitious environment that encourages experimentation, collaboration and peer learning.
You will have excellent communication, organisational and facilitation skills, as well as knowledge and understanding of the youth music sector. Experience of working with young creatives, ideally aged 18-25, and knowledge and experience of safeguarding children and adults at risk are essential.
We welcome applications from people who feel they can bring their own skills, experiences and ideas to the table and empower those around them to do the same. We encourage those currently underrepresented across the creative industries and all intersections of our diverse society to apply.
The successful candidates must have a current and acceptable enhanced DBS check, or be willing to undertake one due to the nature of the role.
Dates:
Auditions: Monday 30 November and Tuesday 1 December 2026, 5.30pm-9pm
Welcome session: Tuesday 15 December 2026
Programme delivery: Tuesday evenings, 5.30pm-9.30pm, from 12 January to 3 August 2027, with breaks during half term.
The role requires a commitment to the full eight-month Music Collective programme, including approximately 28 weekly Tuesday evening sessions during term time.
There may also be ad-hoc planning days and meetings as required and agreed with the Roundhouse Music team.
