Job summary

The Department for Transport is recruiting a TFM Contractual and Commercial Assurance Manager based in Birmingham to lead and influence ALBs, service providers and other stakeholders. The role focuses on contract management, performance analysis, and risk mitigation across the TFM portfolio, delivering improvements while ensuring compliance with government standards.

• Monitor compliance, analyse service performance data, and recommend corrective actions for non-compliance.
• Manage data and KPIs, leading reviews and improvements to enhance performance visibility and alignment.
• Identify and mitigate risks, maintaining risk registers and leading resolution meetings across business units.
• Engage stakeholders, facilitating workshops, providing commercial and contract management guidance while driving continuous improvement.
• Support contract operations, producing reports, lead site compliance visits, and ensuring consistent use of contractual tools.
• Contribute strategically, aligning contract delivery with government standards and asset management plans.

The post is one of the positions within the Group Management Team (GMT) within Operational Estates which sits within the Corporate Finance and Property Directorate. The GMT is responsible for achieving Contract Management Excellence on the DfT Group TotalFacilities Management (TFM) Contract. The TFM contract provides facilities management services for over 900 properties across ten DfT business units. Together, the GMT and the ten business units form the Facilities Management (FM) Group Operating Model (GOM). The current TFM contract has an annual spend of £43m made up of core fee, additional billable work and projects and runs until 31 January 2032.

Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to:
