Job summary

Osborne Appointments is seeking a Test Technician in Wellingborough. You will work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, testing electronics and reworking hardware as needed.

Responsibilities

• Test products to procedures and specifications using relevant equipment.
• Disassemble/reassemble/clean and prepare customer field returns.
• Re-configure hardware to test products as needed.
• Identify process, quality and performance issues promptly.
• Provide feedback to Engineering and Management on issues.
• Operate and maintain test equipment knowledgeably.
• Cross-train and support other staff in testing.
• Visually inspect products for defects and log findings.
• Update testing processes as required and support other areas.

Role: Test Technician

Location: Wellingborough

Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours a week

Salary: £30,000 -£35,000 per annum

Duties of a Test Technician:

• Testing to relevant procedures and specifications using the relevant customer/ software and field configuration.
• Disassemble/reassemble/clean & prepare customer field returns.
• Re-configure hardware to manually test products as necessary.
• Prompt identification of problems regarding process, quality and performance.
• Provide constructive feedback to Engineering and Management on technical and quality issues.
• Practical knowledge and experience of department test equipment.
• Provide cross training and support to other technical and operator staff.
• Visually inspect all types of product in accordance with defined inspection criteria, for defects and ensure that all inspection findings are recorded.
• Implementing changes in testing processes as required.
• Provide support to other areas of the business when required

What we would like from you:

• Experience working within an electronics, engineering or technical environment, with a good understanding of electronic systems.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify faults and investigate technical issues.
• Confident using test and measurement equipment, such as oscilloscopes, multimeters and spectrum analysers.
• Practical hands-on skills, including the use of hand and power tools, with experience disassembling, testing and reassembling equipment.
• Good IT and communication skills, with the ability to follow technical procedures, accurately record information and work effectively as part of a team.
