Job description

Overview

Performs the set-up, calibration, testing and troubleshooting of circuits, components, instruments and mechanical assemblies. Determine and develop test specifications, methods and procedures from blueprints, drawings and diagrams. Test and troubleshoot assemblies and/or final systems. Complete rework on assemblies and/or systems as a result of testing. Prepare technical reports summarising findings and recommending solutions to technical problems. May assist in the selection and set-up of specialised test equipment.


Responsibilities
  1. Competent in setting up and the use of oscilloscopes, DVMs, spectrum analysers for testing & fault finding electronic assemblies and computer driven test systems.
  2. To undertake fault finding tasks with electronic circuits using schematic diagrams.
  3. Taking a leading role in finding the root cause of faults and assisting in implementation of root cause solutions within the manufacturing process. Often liaising with other production process teams.
  4. Set up test equipment and test jigs both for in-circuit and full functional testing of PCBAs and complete products.
  5. Test PCBAs and complete electronic products following test procedures recording test results as directed.
  6. Only pass assemblies that meet the test specification with all readings falling within test limits.
  7. Ensure test work is carried out to the production schedule, in order that production deadlines are met.
  8. To inform the Production management team if there are problems that may cause delay. Keep management informed of any significant problems with products under test.
  9. To investigate and fault find faulty electronic printed circuit assemblies or complete electronic based products using schematic diagrams and the full range of test equipment available leading to their repair.
  10. To keep records as required of test times and record fault data in a database.
  11. Suggest improvements in the testing of items to speed up the test process and achieve production test times.
  12. To seek assistance, as required to help solve test related problems.
  13. To use commercial awareness in relation to the products being tested and repaired, balancing the value of the item against the time required to repair or test it.
  14. To follow the working procedures defined in use within the test department.

  16. Demonstrate behaviour consistent with the company’s Code of Ethics and Conduct.
  17. It is the responsibility of every employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects in order for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problem.
  18. Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.

Qualifications
  1. Proven experience in testing & debug of complex analogue/digital PCB’s.
  2. Proven experience in electronics fault finding with electronic circuits.
  3. Experience of IPC-610 and IPC 7711/21 certification.
  4. Demonstratable experience of SMT, Through-Hole soldering and rework.
  5. Demonstratable experience of Electro-Mechanical assembly using hand tools.
  6. Highly attentive and a self-motivated problem solver.
  7. Strong MS Office skills.
