A leading UK space organization seeks a Test Site Operations Manager for their Glasgow facility. This contract role involves overseeing day-to-day operations and leading a team through live rocket engine testing. Rate: GBP350 GBP400 per day (contract)
About the RoleWe re working with a leading UK space organisation to recruit a Test Site Operations Manager for their rocket engine testing facility in Glasgow. This is a contract position where you ll take charge of day-to-day operations at one of the most ambitious commercial test sites in the UK.
You ll lead a team of engineers and technicians through the full cycle of live hot fire testing on orbit-class rocket engines helping drive the UK s journey to space. It s a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys a hands-on, fast-paced role and wants to make a real impact in the space sector.
Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage a multidisciplinary team on-site, including engineers, technicians, and safety officers
Oversee all test site operations: setup, execution, maintenance, upgrades, and shutdowns
Ensure safety and regulatory compliance (including PSSR, COSHH, COMAH, DSEAR, ATEX)
Maintain schedules, solve technical and logistical issues, and drive continuous improvements
Provide technical guidance on high-pressure pneumatic and hydraulic systems
Produce accurate test reports and maintain strong communication with stakeholders
Represent the site and company in dealings with the public, suppliers, and local community
Promote and enforce a strong safety culture throughout all activities
5+ years experience with PSSR high-pressure fluid or industrial feed systems
5+ years in operations/maintenance leadership or team management
Strong understanding of safety legislation and regulatory standards
Hands-on experience with pneumatic/hydraulic systems and related components
Proven ability to lead teams in high-pressure, mission-critical environments
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Knowledge of hazardous systems and related safety codes (ATEX, COMAH, COSHH, etc.)
