Job summary

First Military Recruitment are seeking a Test Engineer responsible for safe testing, inspection and sign-off of specialist industrial equipment before dispatch. You will diagnose faults in electrical, electronic, PLC and PC-based control systems and collaborate with design, service and manufacturing teams to ensure safety and quality.

Role involves reading electrical drawings, completing accurate test records, and occasional travel within the UK and internationally.

Qualifications

• Experience working with electrical equipment in a testing environment.
• Good understanding of single-phase and three-phase electrical circuits.
• Knowledge of high-power electrical systems and analogue/digital circuitry.
• Good working knowledge of PLC systems and online fault diagnosis.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical and engineering drawings.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Good IT skills and accurate technical documentation.

Responsibilities

• Carry out testing, inspection and sign-off of manufactured equipment prior to dispatch.
• Test and fault-find high-power electrical systems, inverters and control equipment.
• Diagnose faults across electrical, electronic, PLC and PC-based control systems.
• Inspect and test induction melting furnaces, hydraulic systems and water-cooling equipment.
• Use electrical test equipment, including multimeters, oscilloscopes and three-phase power analysers.
• Liaise with design, service and manufacturing teams to resolve technical issues.
• Read and interpret electrical drawings and complete test records and reports.
• Adhere to site procedures, risk assessments and health and safety requirements.
