Job summary

KO2 Embedded Recruitment Solutions Ltd is seeking a Contract ATE Test Engineer (Hardware + LabVIEW) to build, integrate and bring a production final test station at Gatwick. This is a genuinely hands-on role combining assembly, wiring and LabVIEW software development.

You will assemble and wire the rack, integrate the fixture, develop and debug the LabVIEW application, and perform data logging, testing and production reporting.

Qualifications

• Hands-on electrical hardware debugging and test instrumentation.
• Experience integrating power supplies, DAQ, switching, and production fixtures.
• Able to work independently on-site with production and engineering teams.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and commission a production ATE rack.
• Integrate barcode scanner, fixture interfaces, DUT connection harnesses.
• Cable routing, labeling, continuity and insulation checks.
• Fit and align the test fixture with maintenance-friendly improvements.
• Develop and debug the LabVIEW production test application.
• Implement test data logging, results storage and production reporting.
• Cover digital I/O, relay outputs, analogue inputs, and comms testing.
• Debug integration issues and support pilot builds through to manufacturing handover.

Job description

Job Title: ATE Test Engineer (Hardware + LabVIEW) - Contract - Outside IR35

Salary: Up to £55 per hour

Contract length: 3 months initially

Location: Gatwick - Hybrid

We're recruiting on behalf of a client for a Contract ATE Test Engineer to build, integrate and bring a production final test station. This is a genuinely hands-on role. You'll be assembling and wiring the rack, integrating the fixture, and developing/debugging the LabVIEW test application that runs on it, so it suits someone equally happy with a screwdriver and a soldering iron as with LabVIEW code.

Responsibilities:

• Assembling and commissioning a production ATE rack - power supplies, industrial PC, touchscreen HMI, measurement and switching hardware, safety hardware
• Integrating barcode scanner, fixture interfaces, DUT connection harnesses and test accessories
• Cable routing, labelling, continuity and insulation checks, basic electrical verification
• Fitting and aligning the test fixture - pin mapping, mechanical interface checks, design-for-maintenance improvements
• Developing and debugging the LabVIEW production test application - serial number scanning, product ID, config detection, sequence control, pass/fail logic, diagnostics and operator prompts
• Implementing test data logging, results storage and production reporting; supporting executable build and release
• Covering digital I/O, relay outputs, analogue inputs, and comms testing (Ethernet, RS232, RS485, CAN)
• Debugging integration issues, reducing false failures, and supporting pilot builds through to manufacturing handover

Requirements:

• Automated test equipment development experience
• Strong National Instruments LabVIEW development skills
• Hands-on electrical hardware debug and test instrumentation experience
• Experience integrating power supplies, DAQ, switching, measurement equipment and production fixtures
• Comfortable working independently on-site with production and engineering teams
• Clear documentation and structured fault-finding approach

Contract details: Up to £55 per hour, Outside IR35, Gatwick - Hybrid - ASAP start - 3 months initially
