Job Summary:
The Senior Test & Development Engineer will be responsible for designing, manufacturing, verifying, validating, and providing technical support for test equipment at board, sub-system, and system levels.
Important: All applicants must be able to obtain Security Clearance.
Location: Harlow (fully onsite)
Duration: 12-month contract
We have multiple opportunities available with this team, including both permanent and contract positions!
Responsibilities:
- Design functional test equipment for circuit cards, sub-assemblies, and systems.
- Ensure the quality of test equipment and provide leadership to junior engineers.
- Document design specifications and participate in design reviews.
- Create robust and reliable test hardware solutions for complex system requirements.
- Implement detailed technical items with an understanding of system-level components.
- Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to design system interfaces and protocols.
- Develop test hardware, software, and procedures to verify hardware operation.
- Support manufacturing by addressing product queries and resolving technical issues.
- Manage obsolescence and support the lifecycle of test hardware.
- Report on progress of test development to supervisors and teams.
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and company policies.
- Conduct activities in line with company values and ethics.
- Support other activities as requested by management.
- Apply Design Review Processes.
- Manage engineering risks and opportunities.
- Guide Test Development processes and tools.
- Participate in resource planning using Microsoft Project.
- Lead small/medium scale test engineering programs.
- Engage SMEs to support activities.
- Approve and contribute to standard/test development processes.
- Act as key interface to external customers and suppliers.
- Possess excellent knowledge of analogue and digital circuit design.
- Write comprehensive technical documentation.
- Support design handover and management in production.
- Support/debug system integration.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in Defence/Aerospace or safety-regulated environments.
- Proficiency with Mentor Graphics schematic and PCB layout tools.
- Understanding of test architectures PXI/IXI.
- Knowledge of Measurement Uncertainty in test design.
- Experience with NI LabView, NI CVI, NI TestStand, C#.
