Job Summary
The Senior Test & Development Engineer will be responsible for designing, manufacturing, verifying, validating, and providing through-life technical support for board-level, sub-system, and system-level test equipment.
Important

Location & Duration
Location: Harlow (fully onsite)
Duration: 12-month contract

Responsibilities
- Design functional test equipment for circuit cards, sub-assemblies, and systems.
- Take responsibility for the design and quality of test equipment, providing leadership and guidance to junior engineers.
- Document design specifications and participate in design reviews, upholding standards and methodologies.
- Develop robust and reliable test hardware solutions based on complex system requirements.
- Implement detailed technical items, understanding system-level components.
- Collaborate with hardware and software engineers on system designs, interfaces, and protocols.
- Develop test hardware, software, and procedures to verify hardware operation.
- Support manufacturing by resolving technical issues and product queries.
- Manage obsolescence of test hardware throughout its lifecycle.
- Monitor and report progress of test development.
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and company policies.
- Conduct activities in line with company values and ethics.
- Support company activities as requested.
- Apply Design Review Processes and manage engineering risks and opportunities.
- Guide Test Development processes and tools.
- Contribute to resource planning using Microsoft Project.
- Lead small/medium test engineering programs.
- Identify and engage SMEs for Test Development activities.
- Approve and contribute to test development process standards.
- Interface with external customers and suppliers.
- Possess strong knowledge of analogue and digital circuit design.
- Write comprehensive technical documentation.
- Support design handover and management in production.
- Support/debug system integration.
Desired Skills
- Experience in Defence/Aerospace or safety-regulated environments.
- Use of Mentor Graphics schematic and PCB layout tools.
- Understanding of PXI/d LXI test architectures.
- Knowledge of Measurement Uncertainty in test design and validation.
- Experience with NI LabView, NI CVI, NI TestStand, C#.
