Job Summary

The Senior Test & Development Engineer will be responsible for designing, manufacturing, verifying, validating, and providing through-life technical support for board-level, sub-system, and system-level test equipment.

Important

All applicants must be able to obtain Security Clearance.

Location & Duration

Location: Harlow (fully onsite)

Duration: 12-month contract

Responsibilities

1. Design functional test equipment for circuit cards, sub-assemblies, and systems.
2. Take responsibility for the design and quality of test equipment, providing leadership and guidance to junior engineers.
3. Document design specifications and participate in design reviews, upholding standards and methodologies.
4. Develop robust and reliable test hardware solutions based on complex system requirements.
5. Implement detailed technical items, understanding system-level components.
6. Collaborate with hardware and software engineers on system designs, interfaces, and protocols.
7. Develop test hardware, software, and procedures to verify hardware operation.
8. Support manufacturing by resolving technical issues and product queries.
9. Manage obsolescence of test hardware throughout its lifecycle.
10. Monitor and report progress of test development.
11. Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and company policies.
12. Conduct activities in line with company values and ethics.
13. Support company activities as requested.
14. Apply Design Review Processes and manage engineering risks and opportunities.
15. Guide Test Development processes and tools.
16. Contribute to resource planning using Microsoft Project.
17. Lead small/medium test engineering programs.
18. Identify and engage SMEs for Test Development activities.
19. Approve and contribute to test development process standards.
20. Interface with external customers and suppliers.
21. Possess strong knowledge of analogue and digital circuit design.
22. Write comprehensive technical documentation.
23. Support design handover and management in production.
24. Support/debug system integration.

Desired Skills

1. Experience in Defence/Aerospace or safety-regulated environments.
2. Use of Mentor Graphics schematic and PCB layout tools.
3. Understanding of PXI/d LXI test architectures.
4. Knowledge of Measurement Uncertainty in test design and validation.
5. Experience with NI LabView, NI CVI, NI TestStand, C#.
