The Senior Test & Development Engineer will be responsible for the design, manufacture, verification, and validation, along with through-life technical support of board-level, sub-system, and system-level test equipment.

Duration: 12-month contract

Responsibilities:
- Design of functional test equipment for circuit cards, sub-assemblies, and systems.
- Take responsibility for the design and overall quality of the test equipment and provide leadership and guidance for junior engineers.
- Document design specifications and implementation details. Participate in design reviews. Uphold design standards and methodologies.
- Realize complex system requirements to provide robust and reliable test hardware solutions.
- Responsible for the complete implementation of detailed technical items with an understanding of system-level components.
- Collaborate with hardware and software engineers to agree on system designs, interfaces, and protocols.
- Develop test hardware, test software, and procedures to verify hardware operation.
- Support manufacturing by answering product queries and resolving technical issues.
- Manage obsolescence and support for test hardware throughout its lifecycle.
- Monitor and report progress of test development to supervisors and the development team.
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and company policies.
- Conduct all activities in line with company values, policies, and ethics.
- Undertake any other activities as reasonably requested by management.
- Apply Design Review Processes.
- Be accountable for engineering-specific risks and opportunities.
- Guide Test Development processes and tools.
- Contribute to resource planning using tools like Microsoft Project.
- Lead test engineering for small/medium programs.
- Identify and engage SMEs to support activities.
- Approve standard/tailored test development processes, including Design Review gates.
- Serve as key interface to external customers and suppliers.
- Possess excellent knowledge of analogue and digital electronic circuit design.
- Write comprehensive technical design documentation.
- Manage handover and production of designs.
- Support/debug system integration.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in Defence / Aerospace or safety-regulated environments is advantageous.
- Use of Mentor Graphics schematic entry and PCB layout tools.
- Understanding of test architectures like PXI/LXI.
- Knowledge of Measurement Uncertainty in test equipment design and validation.
- Experience with software such as NI LabView, NI CVI, NI TestStand, C#.
