Job Summary: The Senior Test & Development Engineer will be responsible for designing, manufacturing, verifying, validating, and providing technical support for test equipment at board, sub-system, and system levels.
Important: All applicants must be able to obtain Security Clearance. Location: Harlow (fully onsite). Duration: 12 months. Multiple opportunities available for both permanent and contract roles.
Responsibilities:
- Design functional test equipment for circuit cards, sub-assemblies, and systems.
- Ensure quality and provide leadership to junior engineers.
- Document design specifications, participate in design reviews, and uphold standards.
- Develop robust test hardware solutions for complex system requirements.
- Implement detailed technical items with understanding of system-level components.
- Collaborate with hardware and software engineers on system designs and interfaces.
- Develop test hardware, software, and procedures to validate hardware operation.
- Support manufacturing by resolving technical issues and queries.
- Manage obsolescence and support lifecycle of test hardware.
- Report progress of test development to supervisors and teams.
- Adhere to Health and Safety legislation and company policies.
- Conduct business ethically and in line with company values.
- Undertake additional activities as requested.
- Apply Design Review Processes and manage engineering risks and opportunities.
- Guide Test Development processes and tools.
- Assist in resource planning using Microsoft Project.
- Lead small/medium test engineering programs.
- Identify and engage SMEs for Test Development activities.
- Contribute to development process standards and review gates.
- Interface with external customers and suppliers.
- Possess strong knowledge of analog and digital circuit design.
- Write comprehensive technical documentation.
- Support design handover and management in production.
- Support system integration and debugging.
Desired Skills:
- Experience in Defence/Aerospace or safety-regulated environments.
- Use of Mentor Graphics schematic and PCB layout tools.
- Understanding of PXI/d LXI test architectures.
- Knowledge of Measurement Uncertainty in test design.
- Experience with NI LabView, NI CVI, NI TestStand, C#.
