Our Team

Welcome to the Audi F1 Project.

Audi will be competing in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship from 2026.

The new team has three locations. The Motorsport Competence Center of Audi in Neuburg (Germany) is considered one of the most modern of its kind in Europe. The Sauber Group's Formula 1 factory in Hinwil (Switzerland) is known for its innovative technologies and passion for racing. The Sauber Motorsport Technical Center, UK will be operational this year. Our Power Unit comes from Neuburg, while Hinwil is responsible for the development of the chassis and race operations.

The position for the Audi F1 Project is to be filled at Audi Formula Racing GmbH in Neuburg (Germany).

As a development engineer for powertrain simulation in the context of the complete vehicle, you will make a significant contribution to the success of the project and set the development direction for the various subdivisions/specialist departments. You will be involved in maximising the performance of one of the most powerful and efficient hybrid drivetrains in the highly competitive motorsport environment of Formula 1.

This position is available starting January 1, 2026.

Your Mission
  • Develop state-of-the-art complete vehicle simulation for lap time performance and energy management optimisation
  • Continuous improvement of the simulation/optimisation framework by implementing user requirements and integrating high-fidelity vehicle and powertrain models
  • Identification and implementation of measures to improve convergence and robustness of the optimisation
  • Research, review and implement advanced numerical methods from academic literature
  • Support concept analysis and system design decisions for the F1 2026 PU regulations
  • Cooperate both independently and collaboratively with engineers from model and software development
Your Profile
  • Doctoral/Master’s degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science or similar
  • Deep knowledge and several years of working experience in numerical optimisation
  • Extensive experience in optimal control or model predictive control
  • Good knowledge of linear algebra, calculus, dynamical systems and differential equations
  • Experience in lap time simulation and vehicle modelling
  • Extensive experience in programming either in Matlab, Python or C++
  • Experience with modern software development workflows and version control systems such as Git/SVN is a plus
  • Strong analytical, systemic and independent way of working as well as strong ability to work in a team
  • Enjoying working in an international team
  • Full professional proficiency in either German or English and willingness to achieve the basics of the other language are prerequisites
