Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. seeks a calm, confident Youth Support Worker for a Pupil Referral Unit in Caerphilly. You’ll support young people who have struggled in mainstream school, helping them stay focused and engaged in learning.

No teaching qualification is required; a DBS check is needed or you can apply for an enhanced DBS. Part-time, term-time only, 08:30–15:00, £100/day via PAYE with weekly pay.

Qualifications

• Experience in youth work, sports coaching, mentoring, behaviour support or SEN settings is welcome.
• DBS checks are required or applicants must be willing to apply for an enhanced DBS.
• You don’t need a teaching qualification.

Responsibilities

• Support small groups and individual students in lessons using pre‑prepared plans.
• Use calm, de‑escalation strategies to manage behaviour positively.
• Build positive relationships with young people and support their progress.
• Work with teachers, pastoral staff and external agencies to support wellbeing.
• Model respect, patience and resilience in daily duties.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and record concerns accurately.
• Encourage students to reflect, regulate and make better choices.
