Job summary

Derby City Council is seeking a Teaching Assistant Level 1 to join Redwood Primary School in Derby. You will work 32.5 hours per week during term time and: support pupils with varying levels of need, collaborate with teachers, and contribute to maintaining high standards of behaviour and learning.

The post is temporary to July 2027, starting 2 November 2026 or as soon as possible, with safeguarding checks and full DBS requirements.

Qualifications

• Good understanding of supporting learning through effective questioning and interactions.
• Able to liaise with teachers about pupil progress.
• Strong behaviour management skills to maintain standards.
• Organised and proactive team player contributing to school wellbeing.
• Relevant experience with children with complex SEND.

Responsibilities

• Post to work as part of our teaching assistant team at Redwood Primary School.
• Support pupils with varying levels of need and learning goals.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor and report progress.
• Contribute to maintaining high standards of behaviour for learning.
