Job summary

Southmead Primary School in Braunton, United Kingdom, is seeking a motivated Teaching Assistant for a fixed-term contract from 7 September 2026 to 31 August 2027. The role is 30 hours per week across 38 weeks (term-time) from 8:30 a.m.

to 3:15 p.m., Monday to Friday, with breaks. The successful candidate will work with children with a range of needs, deliver 1:1 and small-group interventions, and may cover class duties for suitably qualified colleagues.

Qualifications

• Teaching and Learning Assistant Level 2 qualification or equivalent.
• Experience with children and/or children with additional needs.
• Experience delivering 1:1 or small group interventions.
• GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above.
• Ability to work within a team and show initiative.
• Willingness to undertake CPD.

Responsibilities

• Provide small group interventions and may cover class duties for suitably qualified candidates.
• Support children with a range of needs, individually or in small groups.
• Foster a positive and encouraging classroom environment.
• Commit to safeguarding and promote pupil welfare in line with school policy.
