Job summary

Manchester City Council is seeking a Passenger Assistant to support children and young people travelling to and from their place of education. You will safeguard passengers, assist boarding and alighting, and respond to incidents to ensure safety and wellbeing throughout the journey.

The role involves teamwork with drivers and the Home to School Transport Team, contributing to positive educational outcomes across the city. Term time hours apply with some flexibility in shift times.

Qualifications

• Experience of safeguarding the safety, wellbeing and welfare of children, young people or vulnerable individuals.
• Ability to communicate effectively and build positive working relationships with passengers, parents/carers, drivers and colleagues.
• Ability to follow procedures, respond to incidents, and work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Safeguard and supervise passengers during journeys.
• Support passengers to board, travel and leave transport safely.
• Respond to incidents, concerns and emergencies to maintain safety and wellbeing.
• Work with drivers, parents/carers and the Home to School Transport Team.
• Support the delivery of home to school transport services for children and young people.
