Job summary

Herefordshire Council is recruiting a School Crossing Patrol for Aylestone Hill, Hereford, during term time. The role involves guiding children and pedestrians across a busy crossing at fixed times (0800–0900 and 1500–1600) with on-site training provided.

The contract is fixed-term until July 2028 and salary is £13.28–£13.49 per hour. Hours total 10 per week, pay spread over 12 months, with annual leave in line with school holidays.

Qualifications

• Have a high degree of safety observation and situational awareness.
• Be reliable and punctual.
• Have clear and confident communication skills with pedestrians, drivers and road users.
• Have good mobility, good eyesight and hearing to enable safe movement in and out of the road.
• Eyesight and hearing correction is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Manage a crossing site located on A465 at Aylestone Hill, Hereford at fixed duty times, during term time.
• Two hours per day 0800–0900 and 1500-1600. Term time only.
