Job summary

Lancashire County Council's School Catering Service is hiring a Catering Assistant for St Mary's C of E Primary School in Kirby Lonsdale. The role is part-time (17 hours/week), term-time only, with a fixed-term until 23/07/2027. Salary is £13.45 per hour, with duties focused on preparing, serving and supporting healthy school meals.

You will work as part of a busy team to ensure pupils have a safe, nutritious lunchtimes experience and help the unit run smoothly.

Qualifications

• Previous catering and food-preparation experience is essential.
• Good customer service and communication skills.
• Willingness to cover the Unit Catering Supervisor role during absences.

Responsibilities

• Setting up the dining area and moving furniture as required.
• Assisting with preparation and cooking of food.
• Serving meals and drinks to pupils.
• Clearing the dining area and putting furniture away after service.
• Cleaning equipment, kitchen areas and dining areas.
• Helping the team to serve meals safely and efficiently.
